14-Year-Old Student in Custody After Making Bomb Threat to School

SHREVEPORT, La. – A 14-year-old student is now in custody following a bomb threat that was reported Monday morning at their school, as confirmed by the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The juvenile, whose identity remains protected due to their age, confessed to Caddo Sheriff’s juvenile Detective Chris Ardoin that they made the threat to avoid attending Donnie Bickham Middle School.

The student has been charged with the offense of terrorizing and was subsequently booked into the Caddo Juvenile Detention Center.

The incident began when a school faculty member received a call regarding the bomb threat at approximately 7:25 a.m. As a precautionary measure, the school was placed on lockdown while sheriff’s deputies and the district’s security team conducted a thorough search of the campus.

During the search, a backpack was discovered in the vicinity of the school’s woods. It underwent a meticulous examination and was declared safe, thanks to the assistance of the Shreveport Fire Department’s bomb squad.
