SHREVEPORT, La. — On Sunday morning in Shreveport, an officer-involved shooting occurred, resulting in the tragic death of one man. This incident marks the seventh such incident involving law enforcement in Caddo Parish this year, with six of them taking place in Shreveport and one in Mooringsport.
The most recent incident unfolded on Marquette Street following a routine traffic stop. According to state police reports, a Shreveport police officer initiated a pursuit after the man exited his vehicle and attempted to flee. During the pursuit, the individual produced a firearm, leading to shots being fired by law enforcement, as per state police accounts.
Regrettably, the man succumbed to his injuries later at the hospital. His identity has not been disclosed at this time.
Caddo Parish District Attorney James Stewart, responsible for reviewing all officer-involved shootings, refrained from offering comments on the incident, citing a lack of sufficient information and details regarding the events leading to the tragic outcome.
