HOMER, Louisiana. – In a recent development in Claiborne Parish, an ongoing investigation has resulted in the arrest of a police sergeant from the Homer Police Department. According to a news release from the Louisiana State Police, Sergeant Arnold Stephenson, aged 50, was taken into custody on Monday, November 6, by Detectives from the Bureau of Investigations Bossier City Field Office (LSP BOI BCFO).
Sergeant Stephenson’s arrest followed an extensive inquiry into allegations of excessive force involving the Homer Police Department. This investigation also led to the arrest of Chief Elvan “Van” McDaniel, who was taken into custody on the same day on charges of aggravated battery and malfeasance related to an incident from 2022.
Sergeant Stephenson was subsequently booked into the Claiborne Parish Detention Center, where he is facing charges that include possession of Schedule I narcotics and illegal carrying of weapons.
