Robbery attempt over pot ends in fatal shooting and life imprisonment for killer

A Shreveport man who fatally shot another man in a marijuana deal gone wrong will spend the rest of his life behind bars. Quinton Peace, 24, was convicted of second-degree homicide by a unanimous jury last Friday and sentenced to life in prison without parole on Wednesday.

Peace and another man, who will face trial in December, went to Chavez Parker’s house in the 6600 block of Melara Ave. on December 21, 2021, pretending to buy marijuana from him. Peace had two 9mm handguns with him and planned to rob Parker of his money and drugs.

However, the robbery turned violent when Peace shot Parker four times in the chest and head, killing him on the spot. Peace then fled to Fort Worth, Texas, where he was arrested with one of the guns used in the murder. The other gun was recovered from his co-defendant. The evidence linked Peace to three of the four shots that killed Parker.
