SHREVEPORT, Louisiana – On Monday afternoon, a fatal collision occurred at a railroad crossing in Shreveport, resulting in the death of a woman. The incident involved a train and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) on Norris Ferry Road.

The accident took place at approximately 1:35 PM at the railroad crossing located on the southern stretch of Norris Ferry Road. According to the Shreveport Police Department (SPD), a silver Audi SUV was discovered in a nearby ditch when they arrived at the scene.

Tragically, the female driver of the Audi was found deceased. Early reports from SPD suggest that the woman attempted to cross the railroad tracks just as the train was approaching, leading to the catastrophic collision. The coroner’s van was present at the scene, and local news outlet KTBS confirmed the fatality.

Investigators at the scene noted that the crossing arms, designed to prevent such accidents, were operational at the time of the crash. However, one of the arms was broken due to the impact of the collision but has since been repaired.

Further information regarding the incident, including the identity of the victim and any additional circumstances leading up to the collision, is pending release from both the Shreveport Police Department and the Caddo Coroner’s Office.

This tragic event serves as a somber reminder of the dangers present at railroad crossings. The Shreveport community mourns the loss of a life in this unfortunate incident. More details will be provided as they become available from the authorities, and our thoughts are with the family of the victim during this difficult time.
